Dairy free smoothies

With many of us are now reaching for more dairy alternatives such as oat, coconut or almond milk it can be hard to find smoothie recipes which are suitable as many of them contain yoghurt or milk. Make sure you are choosing unsweetened dairy alternatives.

The addition of dairy help to give smoothies thick and creamy texture and taste but adding different alternatives such as banana can help create that familiar smooth texture!

Lots of our members have asked about dairy free alternatives for smoothies so we’ve lined up two delicious recipes for you to try…

Chocolate & Banana

Serves: 1

Ingredients:

  • 180ml dairy free alternative milk of your choice (coconut works well with the chocolate)
  • 30g rolled oats
  • 1 frozen small banana (freeze overnight)
  • 1 tbsp almond nut butter
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder (unflavoured or vanilla will work too it will just be slightly less chocolaty)
  • Dash of cinnamon (to your taste)
  • A few ice cubes

Method:

  • Put all of the ingredients in a blender/nutribullet and blend until smooth!

Acai Berry

Serves: 1

Ingredients:

  • 180ml dairy free alternative milk (oat or almond work well)
  • 100g Blueberries (these can be frozen or fresh)
  • 1 frozen small banana (freeze overnight)
  • 30g rolled oats
  • 1tsp acai powder (this has great antioxidant qualities and tastes delicious!)
  • 15g almond nut butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • A few ice cubes (not necessarily needed if you have put in frozen blueberries)

Method:

  • Put all of the ingredients in a blender/nutribullet and blend until smooth!
